Makeup Consultation & Personal Shopping
Professional advice for the shopping side of makeup — what suits you, what to buy, and what to walk past.
Most makeup bags are a diary of guesses: the foundation bought under shop lighting, the palette that looked wonderful on somebody else, the lipstick that never quite worked. A consultation replaces the guessing with a makeup consultant who answers only to you. We decide your colours, edit what you own, and write the short list of what is actually worth buying — and if you’d like company for the shopping itself, I’ll come with you.
Fewer products, better chosen
A beauty consultation is not about buying more — usually it ends with you owning less, and reaching for all of it. Everything is decided on your own face, in proper light, at your pace.
Your colours, settled
We work out your undertone and the shades that genuinely flatter you — base, blush, lip and eye — in daylight, against your own skin, not under shop lighting. You keep a note of every one.
A kit worth keeping
We go through your makeup bag together: what suits you, what never quite worked and why, and what a decade of well-meant purchases can safely release. Most bags shrink; every one improves.
The shopping list
You leave with a short, exact list — the product types and shades that fill the real gaps, in order of priority. Bought once, and right, it costs less than another season of guessing.
Advice on your side of the counter
I sell nothing and take no commission from any brand, so the advice has no agenda. If something you already own is perfect, I’ll tell you exactly that.
How it works
We start at your home, with your makeup bag on the table and good daylight. I colour-match you properly — undertone and depth, base against your neck and chest rather than the back of a hand — then we work through what you own. Everything that earns its place stays; everything that doesn’t, gets an explanation — so the same mistake never gets bought twice.
Then comes the list: the handful of things genuinely missing, described precisely enough — type, shade, finish — that you can buy them anywhere with confidence. If you’d rather have company for the buying itself, add the personal shopping trip and I’ll come along, keep the choices on-list, and check every match in real light before it goes in the basket.
A consultation tells you what; if you also want to be taught how, it pairs beautifully with a one-to-one lesson or the Natural & Organic Makeup Masterclass — the natural order is the consultation first, then a lesson once the right kit is in the bag.
Consultations happen across London, wherever home is, and always by appointment. Pricing follows the brief rather than a menu — a colour session and a full edit-plus-shopping day are different afternoons — so tell me where your makeup bag stands and I’ll quote for exactly that.
A little reading, if you’d like a head start
Two questions do most of the work in any consultation, and I have written up both. What foundation shade am I? walks through undertone, depth and why shop lighting keeps getting it wrong; What colours suit me? explains colour analysis through a makeup artist’s eyes. For the thinking behind it all, I’ve written up the thinking behind it all in my piece on colour theory for makeup — and if you suspect the clear-out will be the best part, the guide to the products genuinely worth owning will get you in the mood.
Know exactly what suits you
Tell me what your makeup bag looks like today and what it never seems to deliver. Every enquiry comes straight to me — and so does the reply.
